FAQs!

Do you travel, or do destination weddings?

For the right fit, yes. Bird Seed has done two small destination weddings (California and Italy!) I am now offering weddings in Oahu, Hawaii from Nov-March, as I have family there.

Do you do weddings all year round, on any date?

Bird Seed provides wedding florals during the local growing season- late March to early November. My assistants & I take off during Labor Day Weekend.

Do you import flowers if we want something specific?

I would love to hear your question no matter what, but if the flower is not in season, generally no, Bird Seed does not import it. There is often another flower that can give a similar feeling. For example, if you’d like a touch of tropical flowers, some give tropical vibes that don’t require outsourcing from another country. We are here with the main goal of displaying what is in season on your day. There is an occasional exception.

Do you do large hanging installations, ceiling greenery, or large fully covered chuppah florals?

No, at this time huge installations are not our focus. Bird Seed lives in the details, the playful, dainty, wild moments not as easily highlighted in BULK. I believe in the concept of drawing the guests eyes to the tables, not the ceiling. Instead of using your budget to COVER a spot you dislike, or fill space, I suggest using it to create moments that will intrigue guests by what is in front of them throughout the night. I have suggestions for florists doing large work, if that is your focus!

What is the biggest wedding you do?

Bird Seed services weddings up to around 200 guests.

How many people are on your team?

This varies depending on the project! Some small weddings will just be myself setting up, and others will have up to 3 additional hands depending on the setup timeframe and size of projects. I have trustworthy assistants who can set up an event by themselves that I designed.

What happens to the flowers afterward?

Never a trash bag. Because our vases are rentals, we return at the end of the night to collect all florals (besides personal bouquets). Guests are welcome to pluck stems out if they desire, but Bird Seed will donate any durable stems, dry & compost the rest.

Do you have candles I can rent?

Yes, we most frequently use real 10” nondrip taper candles in simplistic modern marble candleholders. 4" wide glass hurricane sleeves are available to meet some venues’ open flame policies.

Do you work at any venue?

No, this is a case-by-case basis. Bird Seed has worked at many different venues and can provide a certificate of insurance to yours. We typically require a multi-hour set-up window that is an industry standard, and rarely can accept a wedding where the venue only provides one hour of access before the event for vendors. Detail is important! We can discuss this ahead of booking, but usually is not an issue.
